Ahmedabad civic body finds mosquitoes breeding in 1,717 homes
The AMC teams found mosquito-breeding sites in 1,717 homes in 422 areas of the city
AHMEDABAD: On the World Mosquito Day on Tuesday, the AMC sealed four sites for mosquito breeding and imposed Rs 2.73 lakh as fines. Teams of the civic body found mosquito breeding at a Prime Minister Awas Yojna site in Isanpur, Vedik Residency in Lambha, a construction site of Gujarat Khadi Gram Udyog in Stadium Ward and MTR Saibaba Foods in Saijpur area. AMC medical officer Bhavin Solanki said that during the drive the AMC teams found mosquito-breeding sites in 1,717 homes in 422 areas of the city.
Of the 1,717 houses, 462 were in eastern part of the city and 322 in the western part. The corporation issued notices to 143 units for mosquito breeding and slapped fines on several of them including Safal Mondeal in Gota (Rs 50,000), SPX Flora Technology in Odhav (Rs 25,000) and Ganesh Masala in Ramol (Rs 25,000).
The Iskcon VIP construction site in Khadia was issued with a fine of Rs 20,000. The sites that were issued a fine of Rs 15,000 included Rubina Screen Printers (Behrampura) and Prashant Engineering (Ramol). Three other units were issued a fine of Rs 10,000, these included a fire construction site in GIDC, Netra Heights (Nikol) and a residential area in Ramol.
