AHMEDABAD: After little respite from the
heat on Tuesday, the mercury has again recorded a sharp rise. According to the
India Meteorological Department (IMD), Gujarat, the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad was 43.6°C on Wednesday, 2.9 degrees above normal. With this, Ahmedabad was the hottest town in Gujarat on Wednesday.
The IMD forecast further suggests that the maximum temperature is likely to remain at 43°C on Thursday.
With heatwave conditions likely to persist in the city, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has issued an orange alert. This means, those belonging to vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children and those with chronic diseases must avoid exposure to the heat. According to the IMD forecast, no major change in the maximum temperature is expected over the next two to three days in Ahmedabad.
