*Update at 11.16pm: The Gujarat government on Saturday night announced further relaxations in lockdown starting next Monday, following the Central government's latest guidelines. (PTI)

*In Ahmedabad city, one of the Covid-19 hotspots in the country, the state government and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) have already begun calculating the total bed capacity of private and trustrun hospitals. The entire city has 12,978 beds capacity as
*Engineers are taking innovative route in Covid times. Two freshly passed out graduates of Parul University (PU) have come out with a range of models to reduce risk to human health in public spaces in the times of Covid-19 pandemic.
*Responding to the need for increased treatment facilities for Covid-19 patients, private hospitals in Vadodara have offered to increase their bed capacity to more than 1,000. This apart, two other hospitals associated with private medical colleges will also accept up to 400 patients covered under the Mukhyamatri Amrutam (MA) scheme.
*With three policemen having lost their lives to Covid-19 Ahmedabad and over 200 infected, senior cops are going all out to stay fit for frontline duties and strengthen their immunity. They have taken to yoga and aerobics while concentrating on having balanced diets and immunity boosters.
*Gujarat high court on Friday asked the state government not to insist on prior approval for Covid-19 tests by private laboratories as a pre-operative procedure and said that mere intimation to the government through e-mail would serve the purpose.
*Following a high court order, Gujarat government has issued a government resolution to force all private and trust-run hospitals with a capacity of 20 or more beds to reserve 50% of the beds for Covid-19 patients.
*Update at 9.32am: Highest spike of 7,964 new Covid cases and 265 deaths in the last 24 hours in India. Total number of cases in the country now at 1,73,763, including 86,422 active cases, 82,370 cured/discharged/migrated and 4,971 deaths: Ministry of health and family welfare. (ANI)
*Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (AHNA) on Friday agreed to 10% further reduction in rates as fixed by the state authorities.
*Gujarat has recorded 20 more deaths of Covid-19 patients, including 18 from Ahmedabad and two from Surat. With this, the total death toll in state has climbed to 980.
*Gujarat in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Friday recorded 372 Covid-19 cases, taking the state tally to 15,944. Ahmedabad recorded 253 of these cases followed by Surat (45) and Vadodara (34).
*The Ahmedabad district outside Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation limits reported 17 fresh Covid-19 cases on Friday. Currently the tally in the district outside AMC has reached 201 cases and 11 deaths.
