Covid-19: Gujarat records highest single-day positive cases at 485; 30 deaths recorded in 24 hours

Gujarat in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Wednesday added one Covid-19 positive case every three minutes – the state at 485 cases recorded the new single-day rise. With the new cases, Gujarat’s total tally has surpassed figure of 18,000 positive cases with 18,117.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Wednesday added one Covid-19 positive case every three minutes – the state at 485 cases recorded the new single-day rise. With the new cases, Gujarat’s total tally has surpassed figure of 18,000 positive cases with 18,117.
The earlier highest tally was 441 on May 5. It's fifth consecutive day for Gujarat where the total case tally has crossed 400 mark.
Ahmedabad district
crossed 13,000 cases – 13,063 – with 290 cases in 24 hours whereas Surat recorded 77, Gandhinagar 39, Vadodara 34 and Banaskantha 10 cases. It’s highest single-day jump for Gandhinagar that has fourth highest total Covid-19 positive cases in Gujarat.
Gujarat recorded death of 30 Covid-19 positive cases in 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,122, crossing the 1100 cumulative deaths so far. Out of total, Ahmedabad recorded 22, Vadodara 3, Surat 2 and Bhavnagar, Kutch and Navsari 1 deaths each. With the deaths, Ahmedabad now has 910 victims of Covid-19.
Only Maharashtra and Gujarat have so far recorded more than 1,000 deaths of Covid-19 patients. The two states account for more than 60% of India’s total deaths due to Covid-19 so far.
After the all-time single day highest discharge of 1,114 patients on Tuesday, Gujarat on Wednesday recorded discharge of 318 patients. Out of total, 205 were from Ahmedabad, 43 from Vadodara, 31 from Surat and eight each from Banaskantha and Gandhinagar. Cumulatively, 12,212 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from Gujarat so far.
Gujarat carried out 6,288 tests in 24 hours to find out Covid-19 patients – second time in one week where the daily tests crossed 6,000 tests mark. Cumulatively, Gujarat has carried out 2.27 lakh tests.
The number of persons under quarantine in Gujarat got slightly reduced at 2.32 lakh including 2.25 lakh in home quarantine. On May 31, 2.44 lakh persons were under quarantine including 2.37 lakh in home quarantine.
