Ahmedabad police commissioner’s wife falls from cycle, suffers fractures

AHMEDABAD: City police commissioner A K Singh’s wife, Sangita Singh suffered injuries when she fell from her cycle on Sunday morning. Singh and their daughter were with Sangita when the mishap occurred. The incident took place on the riverfront walkway near the powerhouse in Shahibaug.
She was taken to a private hospital in Vastrapur in a 108 ambulance.
Doctors found she had fractured her right shoulder. Singh confirmed the accident and said she had gashed her forehead and fractured her right shoulder.
“She will be operated on Tuesday at the private hospital where she was admitted,” Singh said.
Explaining how the accident happened, Sing said, “She was trying to cycle after a long time. It happened early in the day when we went for cycling with our daughter on the riverfront.”
Singh said there was no traffic as the accident occurred on the riverfront walkway.
“She was cycling at speed and saw some obstacle — a pole. She tried to evade it, but lost her balance and fell on the tarmac,” added Singh.
