AHMEDABAD: City crime branch sleuths on Sunday nabbed Ranjit Singh Goraya (23) of Haryana, for several armed robberies in Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, UP, Uttrakhand, Delhi and Rajasthan.
Goraya was arrested from Uttarakhand. Crime branch sources said the accused confessed to having robbed a pregnant woman and her brother-in-law of jewellery and cash worth Rs 3.81 lakh in Chandkheda in April 2019.
JCP crime branch J R Muthaliya said Goraya and his associates Sunil alias Fauji Roshanlal, Sandeep Sharma of Ambala and Bittu of Delhi, were involved in the robbery.

“During the robbery, the accused had hit the pregnant woman’s brother-in-law with iron tongs on the head and made off with jewellery and cash worth Rs 3.81 lakh,” added Muthaliya.
“The gang committed similar armed robberies in Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Rajasthan. We have informed our counterparts in these states and have asked for details of robberies with similar modi operandi,” said DCP Deepan Bhadran.
ACP Bhagirathsinh Gohil said the gang wreaked havoc in Rajasthan where they committed robberies in Kishangarh, Ajmer, Jaipur, Pali, Beawar and Sojat areas.
“The gang used to travel to various cities or states in cars. They would then steal motorcycles and then identify targets,” added Gohil.
