Gujarat: Downpour likely on Sunday, Monday

AHMEDABAD: In a major breather, light rains wet most parts of the city on Thursday, providing much needed relief from oppressive heat and humidity. Weather officials have forecast rains on Friday as well. Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar along with major other parts of Gujarat will receive heavy to very heavy rains during the weekend.
Light rains accompanied with cool windy weather was welcomed by citizens who heaved a sigh of relief as temperature dipped from 40.5 degrees on Wednesday to 34.8 degrees on Thursday.
Weather officials said that light to moderate rains are expected on Friday and Saturday. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected to lash most parts of the state including Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Valsad, Navsari on Sunday.
On Monday, heavy to very heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Tapi, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman,Dadra Nagar Haveli. Heavy rains are also expected in north Gujarat districts namely Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana and districts of Saurashtra-Kutch.
Meanwhile, people in the city enjoyed the light spell of rains and were seen thronging dal-wada and bhajiya joints to enjoy over a cup of tea.
