Gandhinagar serial killer also robbed victims, says SIT
Police have intensified patrolling in the state capital and villages around it in search of the accused.
AHMEDABAD: The special investigation team (SIT) formed to nab the Gandhinagar serial killer, who has shot three persons dead in the state capital, has not yet caught or even fully identified their suspect. However, they have found that one motive for is the acquisition of the victim’s jewellery.
SIT officials said the alleged murderer, who they now believe is a eunuch from the Meghaninagar area of Ahmedabad, had taken gold ornaments from two victims.
The perpetrator had to content himself with cash, after killing 72-year-old Keshavlal Patel near Koba.
“The killer took gold ornaments worth Rs 70,000 after killing Juthaji Maganji Thakor (55), a resident of Shertha near Adalaj, after killing him at a farm between Shertha and Titoda villages on January 26,” said a police official.
Before that, he had shot and killed 60-year-old Jayesh Rabari, a resident of Dantali village, and took his gold earrings, worth an estimated Rs 40,000, the official said.
“However, when he killed Keshavlal Patel near Koba, he would have had to settle for cash,” said the official.
Police have intensified patrolling in the state capital and villages around it.
Another SIT official said, “We strongly suspect one person, a eunuch from Ahmedabad, because he was the only one seen near a murder site. However, we have not been able to trace him. He did not use a mobile phone after the incident. He has been captured on just one CCTV camera.”

Police had on February 2 set up a helpline number, 8155033999, urging the public to provide any information they may have on the killer, but it has not yet received a single call or message.
“We have also tried to get information about the firearm used. According to the ballistics report of the FSL, the weapon may have been produced in Madhya Pradesh or Uttar Pradesh. When, looked at thefts of 7.65mm pistols, we learned that hundreds of such thefts have been registered,” said the official.
