AHMEDABAD: While the police claim that they are cracking down on antisocial elements and bootleggers in Meghaninagar, a video went viral on social media showing goons ransacking a tea stall and other shops the Bapunagar area.
Inspector H V Chaudhary of Bapunagar police station said that a non-cognizable offence was registered against three absconding accused. “The incident was in retaliation to an incident in Rakhial earlier,” said Chaudhary.
In the video that went viral on Monday, two youths are sitting at tea stall near Lal Bhadur Shashtri Stadium and within seconds a group of men armed with bladed weapons rushes on to the spot and ransacks the tea stall, while onlookers run for cover.

Local residents say the law and order situation, especially in eastern parts of the city, has gone from bad to worse. “From the brutal murder of a 20-day-old girl in Chamanpura, to goons ransacking a tea stall and forcing other shopkeepers to down their shutters, the situation tells it all,” a local resident said.
Meanwhile police claimed that ten teams formed to crack down on antisocials and bootleggers continued their action on Sunday evening as well. DCP Zone 4 Neeraj Bagdujar said 23 persons were booked under Section 151 of the CrPC, eight women and men were detained under Section 68 of the Gujarat Police Act to maintain law and order, 21 alleged liquor dens were raided with nothing found and had checked on the 10 listed bootleggers in the area.
