Groups clash in Shahpur

AHMEDABAD: Tension ran high in the walled city as two groups clashed and pelted stones at each other in the communally sensitive locality of Nagoriwad in Shahpur on Saturday evening.
DCP Zone 2 Panna Momaya said a there was a misunderstanding between two groups, when a a candlelight march for the soldiers killed in Pulwama and a marriage procession passed by the same route."Personnel from Shahpur police station and nearby police stations were rushed to the spot. One policeman was injured in the stone pelting. Police fired more than ten tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. Patrolling has been intensified and combing operations are being conducted to maintain law and order," she added.
