AHMEDABAD: The government of Gujarat on Wednesday ordered to disburse aid worth Rs 1 lakh to the legal heirs of some 338 deceased workers. These workers include those from the unorganized sector along with landless farm labourers, who have died in accidents since April 1, 2019.
The funds have been released as part of the Gujarat Social Group (public) Accidental Insurance Scheme.
The claims of some 38 other unorganized sector workers and landless farm workers had been approved, the government said.

The process of claiming assistance from the government under this scheme would soon be taken online, the state government said.
“The government will also make the entire claim process online and unorganized sector workers will be required to digitally submit the proposal online,” said the release.
“A new portal is being developed to take the process online and it will soon be launched,” said additional chief secretary of Labour & Employment department, Vipul Mitra.
