Gujarat: Mother kills six-year-old, herself

AHMEDABAD: In gruesome incident which took place in Ghatlodia on Wednesday, a 31-year-old woman, Sonal Rabari, first threw her six-year-old daughter off the terrace of Saundarya Apartments and then jumped off herself. While the girl died on the spot, Sonal succumbed at Asarwa Civil hospital.
According to the complaint lodged by her husband, Viram Rabari, 32, he has two daughters, a 13-year-old and the six-year-old.He makes a living plying a taxi between Adalaj and Mehsana.
The FIR says that on June 10, when he was at Modhera Crossroads in Mehsana, he got a call from his brother-in-law Karman Rabari, saying something had happened to his wife and daughter and asking him to get to Sola Civil Hospital immediately.
"Viram then called his cousin, Jibhai Rabari, who lives in Sola, and the two of them went to the hospital where he learned what had happened. His wife was later shifted to Asarwa Civil Hospital," said a police official.
In his FIR, filed on Thursday, he said his wife died shortly afterwards and as he had to perform the funeral rites, he couldn't go to the police station to lodge an FIR earlier.
"We have filed a case of murder against Sonal but as she has died, we will file an abated summary in the case," said a Ghatlodia police official.
