AHMEDABAD: A 30-year-old woman from Surat, Mamta Hansraj Rathi, jumped to her death from the 13th floor of a building in Khokhra at 7am on Thursday.
In a tragic twist of fate, in her death, she killed 69-year-old retired teacher Balu Gamit, as she landed right on top of him, just as he was returning from his morning walk.
Inspector R T Udavat of Amraiwadi police station said they have registered a case of accidental death for now.
“Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” he added.
Both Rathi and Gamit were residents of Parishkar Apartments building. “Gamit lived on the second floor of the 14-storey building.”
Woman was suffering from multiple illnesses

“While the Rathi died from the impact, Gamit suffered serious head injuries on getting caught in her fall and also died on the spot,” a police source said.
While Gamit’s family is in deep shock, Rathi’s family locked the house and left for her final rites. Udavat said they had informed a relative of Rathis in Surat.
