AHMEDABAD: While the city is likely to have
cloudy weather and
light rain on Wednesday and Thursday, the
India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast
heavy rain in parts of north Gujarat on these days.
According to the IMD forecast, parts of Dahod and Mahisagar will get heavy rain on August 14 and Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar and Dahod could see heavy rain on August 15.
This change will be due to a weather system approaching the state from Madhya Pradesh, which will be supported by a trough on the western coast, Met department officials said.
Other parts of the state are expected to get scant rainfall over the next five days. According to the IMD, Gujarat now has a 25%
monsoon surplus as of August 12, thanks to recent spell of heavy rainfall.
The city witnessed a maximum temperature of 33.6°C on Tuesday, 1.9 degrees higher than normal. The city along with Gandhinagar (33.4°C) were the hottest places in Gujarat on Tuesday.
