AHMEDABAD : A day after six Patidar religious and social institutions accused Hardik Patel of running the Patel quota agitation as his ‘personal agitation’, the quota warrior refuted the allegations and claimed that he has support of key social and religious trusts of Patidars.
When asked, on Thursday, the young leader of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), said, “The religious and social organizations did not make any allegations about me, and some of them must have retracted from their statements.”
Hardik added, “The allegations were not made by the entire trusts or organizations.
I would request media to approach the office-bearers of these trusts rather than going ahead with the statements of a few persons.”
Khodaldham trust president, Paresh Gajera, said the trust did not make any allegations against Hardik Patel. “We did not make any allegations against Hardik Patel, or say, as had appeared in media, that he is running a private agitation,” said Gajera.
When asked why the Khodaldham trust’s name had been taken among the six Patidar trusts forming the PCC, he refused to comment and said that the trust does not want to indulge in any politics.
On Wednesday, six influential Patidar religious and social organizations had joined hands to form the Patidar Core Committee (PCC) and launched scathing attack on Hardik and Congress. The six Patidar bodies are Umiya Mataji Sansthan Unjha; Khodaldham Kagvad, Rajkot; Sardardham, Ahmedabad; Vishwa Umiya Foundation, Ahmedbad; Samast Patidar Samaj, Surat; and Umiya Mata Sansthan Sidsar.
The leaders of these six bodies had also praised Gujarat's BJP government and approved the steps taken by the government for the community. They criticized Hardik saying the PAAS leader was running a private stir which did not have the support of the community. "It's Private Ananmat Andolan Samiti and not Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti,“ a member of the PCC had said.
