Kalupur murder: Three arrested

A team of Kalupur police arrested three of the four accused of murdering a jeweller on October 13. The murder had taken place over dues of just Rs10,000.

AHMEDABAD: A team of Kalupur police arrested three of the four accused of murdering a jeweller on October 13. The murder had taken place over dues of just Rs10,000.
According to Kalupur police, Subhashchandra Soni, 55, a resident of Sarjan Tower, Gurukul Road, Memnagar, used to assist his son Jatin in his shop, Gurukrupa Touch, located in Rangeela Chambers in Ratan Pol. The shop deals in gold and silver jewellery.

Soni was asasulted by a group of four persons at the shop at 2 pm on October 13. One of the accused, identified as Jayesh, had injured Soni’s thigh with a knife. Soni was taken to VS Hospital where he succumbed to injuries at 1.40 am on October 14.
“We have arrested Jagdish Soni alias Jayesh, 38, a resident of Mahadevnagar, Vastral, his brother Girish alias Mukesh, 42, and Vishnu Solanki alias Marwadi, 32, a resident of Saraspur, in connection with the murder. We have also recovered the weapon used in the incident. Search is on for Arvind Thakor, the fourth accused in the case,” said a Kalupur police official.
Investigators said that the Soni brothers had to recover Rs39,000 from Subhashchandra’s firm towards a transaction. The firm had paid Rs29,000 and they had promised to pay the remaining Rs10,000 on October 16. However, Mukesh approached the firm on October 13 and insisted on payment on the same day. When denied, he brought back others for assault leading to the murder.
