Lawyer confined at gunpoint by uncle and his aides
Ahmedabad: A 40-year-old lawyer with the Gujarat high court, on Tuesday filed complaint with Vastrapur police alleging that his uncle and his four aides had confined him at his office near Thaltej Crossroads on Monday evening, and forced him to sign seven cheques of Rs 50 lakh each, over a property dispute.
Vastrapur police arrested one of the accused, a real estate developer named Suraj Pandey, 35, a resident of Gandhinagar, on Tuesday evening.

Parthsarthi Anand Mhed, a resident of Nandoli in Kalol, has been practising in the high court for 16 years. On August 6, he got a call from Pandey who asked to meet him regarding a court case.
On Monday evening, Pandey, who pretended to be a client, called Mhed again and took an appointment. “When Mhed was at his office in Titanium Square near Thaltej Crossroads, Pandey along with Mhed’s uncle, Abhijat, a resident of Vadodara, and three other men, barged into his office and began assaulting him,” the FIR states.
One of the three men then put a pistol to Mhed’s forehead and Pandey told the man to shoot him. At that time, Mhed’s assistant came in to offer water and he was also forced to sit there by the five persons.
After taking instructions from Abhijat, Pandey told Mhed to give him his chequebook. As it was not in his office, Pandey threatened Mhed and told him to bring the chequebook from home, stated the FIR.
Following their instructions, Mhed called his wife and had the chequebook brought to the office. Pandey and Abhijat then made him sign seven cheques without filling in the name of the payee. They then filled in the amount of Rs 50 lakh on each cheque, and Pandey slipped the cheques into Abhijat’s pocket, the FIR states.
Pandey and Abhijat told Mhed to deposit Rs 1 crore in his bank account immediately, and to deposit Rs 2.50 crore later, the FIR states.
After this, the five men released Mhed after issuing a threat to eliminate him and his family if he told anyone else about the incident. On Tuesday morning, Mhed approached police and filed a complaint for wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation against five persons.
