AHMEDABAD: A joint team of Gujarat ATS, Ahmedabad Crime Branch and Gandhinagar police arrested alleged members of a Delhi-based gang, which had left the Gujarat government red-faced, after it allegedly leaked the LRD (fixed-pay constable) recruitment exam paper just hours before it was to begin on December 2.
Though Gandhinagar police claims to have arrested only two persons, Vinitkumar Mathur of Delhi and Ashok Sahu of Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh, sources said Manishsingh Sharma of Jhajjar in Haryana; Nilesh Chauhan, the owner of a coaching class in Asarwa; Suresh Pandya of Nava Naroda; and Ashwin Parmar of Ahmedabad; have also been detained and may be arrested soon.

Top police officials said all six are members of the Delhi-based gang and are suspected to be involved in leaking papers of competitive exams across India. Ashok Sahu and Manishsingh Sharma have earlier been arrested by MP police, for leaking the FCI exam paper in April or March 2018. They were out on bail when they planned to leak of the LRD exam paper.
At the time, MP police had then arrested 48 candidates who had received the FCI exam answer key, besides Sahu and Sharma,” said a top Gujarat police officer.
Gandhinagar SP Mayur Chavda, told mediapersons that they have brought Vinitkumar to the city from Delhi, and a team will arrive in Ahmedabad late on Monday night with Sahu. “Interestingly, we have seized answer books for competitive exams of various departments and states,” he added.

There is speculation among police officials that as Sahu and Sharma are accused in the FCI paper leak, it could be possible that they are also involved in the infamous “Vyapam” scam of MP. Police officials declined to comment on that aspect of the investigation.
Chavda said they will crack the conspiracy soon and identify the mole through whom the paper was leaked, who most probably works at the press which printed the 9 lakh question papers.
