Three held for vehicle thefts in Ahmedabad and adjoining districts

AHMEDABAD: The city crime branch on Wednesday nabbed three persons, identified as Mahendra Darji, Rahul Parmar and Paresh Solanki, from the outskirts of Ahmedabad. Crime branch officials claimed that the trio was allegedly found to be involved in 27 incidents of vehicle thefts in the city and adjoining districts.
Assistant commissioner of police, crime branch, Bhagirathsinh Gohil said the gang had special modus operandi to steal such vehicles which could be easily sold off.
“They used to steal power bikes, autorickshaws and other prominent two wheelers,” added ACP Gohil.
According to Crime Branch sources, the three were apprehended during patrolling on Tuesday night. “While Paresh was an accused in a case of rape in 2017, Rahul Parmar was arrested in 2016 with country-made liquor,” said an investigator.
ACP Gohil said that during interrogation it has come to light that the gang has committed thefts in Shahibaugh, Chamanpura, Anandnagar, Ghatlodiya, Naroda, Meghaninagar and Mehsana. “We are also trying to find out if they are involved in other criminal activities too,” added ACP Gohil.
