Three killed in hit-and-runs in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar

AHMEDABAD: It was a tragic Thursday, with the city and neighbouring Gandhinagar reporting three deaths in three hit-and-run incidents, at the Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad, near Mother Dairy in Bhat village, and at Sector 1 in the capital.
A 52-year-old security guard posted at the riverfront garden died after he was hit by a speeding motorcycle on the riverfront near Nehru bridge.

According to a complaint filed with Sabarmati riverfront (West) police, Panchhilal Laltaprasad Sharma was hit by the motorcycle and suffered severe head injuries. He was rushed to VS Hospital, where he was declared dead by doctors. “He had gone to a shop from his duty point at Nehru Bridge to get water. When he was returning, he was hit by a motorcycle,” states the FIR filed in this case.
Sabarmati riverfront police registered a case for causing death by negligence and rash driving against an unknown person.
A 20-year-old courier delivery boy, Sanjay Parmar, who was riding pillion on his brother Suresh Parmar’s motorcycle near Mother Dairy Circle at Bhat village in Gandhinagar on Thursday. Their vehicle was hit by a speeding car, causing it to ram into a stationary truck. In the Sanjay’s body was crushed between the car and the truck and he died on the spot. Adalaj police registered a case for causing death by negligence and rash driving against the unknown car driver.
At Sector 1 in Gandhinagar, 60-year-old Govind Prajapati was hit by a speeding car when he was riding his motorcycle to a temple on Thursday afternoon. Prajapati was rushed to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital where he was declared dead by doctors. A case of causing death by negligence and rash driving was registered with Sector 7 police.
