Truck runs over 15-year-old boy in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: A 15-year-old boy, class X student, was mowed down by a speeding truck when he was riding a two-wheeler to his tuition class in the Narol area of the city on Wednesday.
Arpit Arvind Kahar, a resident of Radhe Nagar in Narol, was a student of AIM International School in the same area.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at 6pm, when Arpit, with two friends riding pillion, were going to their tuition class.

A speeding truck hit them from behind, causing the three boys to fall on the road.
The rear wheel of the truck crushed Arpit’s head, killing him on the spot. Local residents recovered Arpit’s mobile, called his brother Ajay, and informed him about the incident.
Ajay Kahar, the complainant, told K division traffic police that when he got to the spot, his brother was lying dead in pool of blood. A large truck was parked at the side of the road. The driver of the truck had fled away after the incident.
A K division traffic police official said Arpit was not wearing at the time of the accident.
His head was crushed by the truck wheel and he died on the spot. Police registered a case of negligent driving causing death against an unknown truck driver.
Questions are also being raised about the traffic police, as a large truck was allowed to enter the city limits during the day. The victim’s brother said the truck was carrying building material.
