Woman goes to fulfil vow on getting son, loses him

AHMEDABAD: A woman who had vowed that if she was blessed with a son then she make a pilgrimage to the famous Vardayini Mata temple at Rupal village in Gandhinagar. When she went to the temple on Sunday, she lost her son in a freak accident at Rupal village.
Varsha Thakor (26) said that she had gone to the temple on Sunday with her six-year-old daughter, Bharti and four-year-old son, Sachin.
She was carrying Sachin when they were walking to the spot where temple authorities had made arrangements for people to eat. As she was crossing the Randheja-Rupal road, a car speeding on the wrong side hit Varsha. Sachin was flung into the air and fell heavily on the road.
Varsha, who had suffered injuries to her right elbow, right leg and back, rushed to her child but found him unconscious. Sachin was bleeding from his nose and had a severe injury on the left side of his head. Locals called an ambulance service and took the boy to Gandhinagar Civil hospital, from where he was shifted to the Asarwa Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad. Sachin succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning, the FIR states. As Varsha is illiterate, locals of Rupal village who had witnessed the accident, gave her the registration number of the car, after which she filed an FIR at Pethapur police station.
