AHMEDABAD: A woman from Girdharnagar has lodged a complaint at women’s police station on Tuesday alleging she was tortured by her in-laws for giving birth to a second girl child. The 25-year-old woman has named her husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law as accused.
Police officials said they are verifying the details of the FIR.” We will summon the accused and then take action,” said a senior woman police.

The complainant has mentioned in the FIR that she has been staying at her parental house for the last 15 days.
“She married from love about five years ago. The couple had three children. The elder one is a boy while the other two are girls. Currently, the youngest one is with her while the other two are with her husband,” said a senior police official.
Police officials said that after the birth of the second daughter, her in-laws had started treating her badly. “They used to fight with her and harass her over petty issues and even scolded her for not bringing jewellery after her wedding,” said an investigator.
The woman stated that about 15 days ago she had told her maternal aunt about the behaviour of her in-laws.
“This did not go down well with her in-laws and they beat her severely. She then ran out of the house and went to Shahibaug police station. The police took her complaint and took her to her mother’s place,” a police official said.
