Punjab: Sales tax inspector nabbed accepting Rs 25,000

BATHINDA: State vigilance bureau on Thursday nabbed sales tax inspector from Kotkapura in Faridkot district while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 25,000.
Vigilance Bureau officials said sales tax inspector Jaspal Handa was nabbed while accepting bribe of Rs 25,000 from Ankur Garg of Faridkot.
Ankur, who worked as scrap dealer, had approached the VB to exempt from tax penalty and said the sales inspector demanded Rs 50,000 from him to exempt his firm from tax penalty and the deal was struck at Rs 25,000.

After verifying his information, the VB team laid trap and inspector was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe in the presence of two official witnesses.
Case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the inspector at VB police station Bathinda and further investigations are being made.
