BENGALURU: A homemaker has filed a complaint against a woman who claimed to be the staffer of a modelling agency and allegedly cheated her of Rs 5.7 lakh on the pretext of making her 18-month-old son a model.
Swathi Kumari, 30, of TC Palya, Ramamurthynagar, said the woman met her in a mall on January 6. "I was carrying my 18-month-old son at that time. The woman said they were looking for kids aged one to five years for commercial ads.
She took our details, including my contact number. On January 7, she sent a WhatssApp message to me, asking us to visit them for a photo-shoot. We reached the place and saw around 100 kids there," said the homemaker.
Kumari said after finishing the shoot, the woman took money from her in instalments. "We paid around Rs 2 lakh in the first few days. On January 23, she sent a message saying our son has been chosen for a short movie and we should deposit Rs 3.3 lakh immediately towards registration. Trusting her, we paid the money. But after that she began avoiding us. Recently, I messaged asking her to return my money, but she had switched off her phone," the complainant said.
