BENGALURU: The state BJP on Thursday gave a 15-day deadline to thee state government to order a CBI inquiry into the alleged encroachments on Wakf properties.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, opposition leader in legislative assembly Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the party would launch a statewide agitation if the government did not met the demand in 15 days.
“The report of BJP leader Anwar Manippady has found out a large-scale encroachment and usurping of Wakf properties by influential persons including politicians.
The scam involves a whopping Rs 2.3 lakh crore worth land. We have been demanding the government accept the report and order an inquiry. But there has been no response from the government. They may be fearing that many Congress leaders may get caught if the inquiry is conducted,” he alleged.
Anwar Manippady said that had given a 7000 page comprehensive report on encroachments on Wakf properties in 2012 and the then government had handed over it to Lokayukta for further inquiry. Later, a separate Act was passed to reclaim these lands.
