BENGALURU: As many as 924 housing projects across the state are likely to be blacklisted by the government for not registering with Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) as mandated by Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act.
Urban development and housing minister U T Khader told reporters here on Thursday that the department has given notices to the developers of these project but has not got reply from them so far.
“Therefore, we are considering to blacklist them and a decision in this regard will be taken soon,” he added.
He said that as many as 1,626 developers were issued notice for flouting RERA norms, of which 604 developers had given satisfactory reply. To a question, the minister said 572 complaints have been received for violating RERA provisions, of which 221 have been disposed off. “On an average, complaints are being disposed in about two months time,” he added.
Khader said to ensure that all housing projects comply with RERA rules, officials have been asked to check brochures and advertisements of project developers. This apart all urban local bodies have been asked to list out projects as soon as plan approvals are given so that verification of RERA compliance becomes easy, he added.
