Metro station footpaths may wear new look
BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is planning to spend Rs 80.2 crore to develop and widen footpaths near 10 Metro stations.
“As part of our efforts to improve last-mile connectivity, we have floated tenders for the development of footpaths and provision of nonmotorised transit in a number of places connecting Metro stations. We are hoping to complete these works within 6 months of finalisation of tenders,” said BBMP commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad.
“This work will be done in Byappanahalli-Swami Vivekananda Road, Indiranagar-Halasuru, MG Road-Trinity Circle, Rajajinagar-Mahalakshmipura and Jayanagar-RV Road zones, among others.
We will also develop footpaths along IT parks and industrial hubs,” he added.
Prasad, who posted the project details on Twitter, received a good response from netizens. Replying to the tweet, Ananda Gundurao said, “This is good news for commuters. Please plan to connect Banashankari Metro with BMTC bus stand with a bridge and a toilet complex. This will improve safety, hygiene and visual appearance of the area.”
