BENGALURU: Students can now apply for Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) passes through e-form.
At present, BMTC accepts applications for students passes only through respective educational institutions.
Under the new system, those who want student passes, can dial 161 on phone, select Kannada or English language, select 6 for BMTC services and then select 2 for student passes.
The application for the pass will be sent to the students' mobile through a weblink. Students can also visit www.mybmtc.com and access the weblink.
A press release from the BMTC said the students will have to enter their enrolment number and date of birth in the e-form.
“Once the enrollment number and date of birth entered by the student matches the database of the Student Achievement Tracking System (SATS), the system will automatically fetch other required information. Students will have to enter parent's mobile number and email id for verification”, the release said. The SATS database is maintained by the education department.
BMTC officials said students who apply through the e-form will get the smart card by post and the amount will be collected by the postal department at the time of delivery. Students should submit their application to avail student concessional pass before July 31.
