BENGALURU: Power consumers in the state will soon have a one-stop destination for a whole range of services, including applying for new connections, increasing load, paying bills, transferring ownership, and lodging enquiries and complaints related to all electricity supply companies (Escoms ) in the state.
Bescom (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company) is currently in talks with Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIITB) to revamp the IT infrastructure and develop an integrated platform.

With all Escoms on a single platform, customers can expect a more streamlined delivery of services, especially with regard to transfer of ownership, new connections and conversion of services. The power utility will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the institute.
“For customers, the billing desk, customer application portal and other such services will be made available at a single location. For, Escoms, it provides an opportunity to share knowledge, expertise, updates and requirements. A few requirements are common across all Escoms—if Bescom has a requirement, it is highly likely that several other Escoms also have it. The new system will enable us to replicate these projects across all Escoms at a nominal cost. This integrated platform will streamline Escoms’ services,” said an official.
Bescom is also partnering with Indian Institute of Science and Technology (IISc) for energy storage solutions and IIMB for enhancing customer engagement.
“With IISc, we’re trying to work out technology solutions mainly in the energy storage space. IIMB will help Bescom better understand consumer usage patterns and behaviour,” the official added.
