BENGALURU/MYSURU: Bengaluru is all set to host the Janagraha (public referendum) here on Sunday. It's been organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to step up pressure on the Union government to issue an ordinance to build the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The convention at National College Grounds in Basavanagudi at 4pm is expected draw people from Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Chikkaballapura, Mysuru and Mangaluru districts, according to state VHP organising secretaryBasavaraj.

Vishwesha Teertha Swami of Pejavar Mutt, Nirmalanand Swami of Adichunchanagiri Mutt and Siddaling Swami of Tumakuru Siddaganga Mutt will bless the meeting while Chinmayanand Saraswati Maharaj of Paramartha Ashrama, Haridwar, Bhagayyaji of RSS and Milind Parande, general secretary of VHP, will be the main speakers.
Members of VHP held bike rallies in various localities of Bengaluru on Saturday. "On Sunday too, we will hold bike rallies and padayatras from different places to Basavanagudi," said Basavaraj.
Bengaluru is one of three places, along with Ayodhya and Nagpur, where the VHP has organised public meetings on Sunday. A national convention will be held in New Delhi on December 9 where the organisation will announce its future course of action on the Ram Mandir. In the run-up to this event, similar programmes will be held in Madikeri, Udupi, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Shivamogga and Manga- luru, he added.
VHP and other right-wing outfits have been demanding that the Centre bring in a legislation through an ordinance to hand over Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya to them to build the Ram Temple. The demand has gathered pace after the Supreme Court hearing in Ayodhya case was put off to January 2019.
