Wipro executive poisons son, kills herself in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: A 26-year-old executive with tech major Wipro poisoned her two-yearold son and committed suicide at her residence in Vijayapura near Devanahalli on Monday, police said.
The woman’s husband, a school teacher in Chikkaballapur, met with a road accident while rushing to the spot and was injured.
Shravani TP did not appear to have left a suicide note, Vijayapura police said.
Members of her family were shocked and could offer no reason for the murder-suicide.
“Shravani’s parents are in the dark as to why she killed Sai Manas, her only son, before consuming poison herself,” an investigating officer said.
Shravani and her husband, Rajesh S, fell in love and married four years ago, the family told police. The couple stayed in Vijayapura. Shravani joined Wipro as an executive six months ago and her husband worked as teacher at a private school in Chikkaballapura.
“Shravani told her husband on Monday morning that she was on leave,” the officer said. “Rajesh, who went to work, tried to call his wife around 12.30pm but got no reply. He called a neighbour, Asma, to check on his wife.”

“Asma went to the couple’s house and found that Shravani had bolted the door from inside,” he said. “She peeped through a window and saw Shravani and Manas lying motionless on the floor.”
Asma immediately informed Rajesh and some neighbours helped her break open the door. “Shravani was dead but Sai showed signs of life,” the officer said. “They rushed the boy to a hospital nearby, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.”
Police registered a case of murder against Shravani and an unnatural death in connection with her apparent suicide on a complaint by her father, Thirumalappa. Shravani’s parents did not level any charges against Rajesh. Police handed over the bodies to the family on Tuesday morning after postmortem examinations.
Rajesh sustained minor injuries after losing control of his motorcycle while hurrying to Bengaluru. “Rajesh refused treatment and rushed to his house but received medical care later,” the officer said.
