Bhopal: Action against kiosks for overcharging fee

BHOPAL: Action has been taken against 10 kiosk centres following complaints of irregularities in the online admission process under College Chalo Abhiyan.
These kiosks are 4 of Gwalior, 2 of Bhopal and one centre each of Sagar, Morena, Narsinghpur and Khandwa.
Commissioner higher education Raghavendra Singh said that on receiving complaints from Sagar, Morena, Gwalior, Hoshangabad and Bhopal of students being charged with more amount by the centres, spot verification was conducted by district coordinators.
On finding the complaints true, the kiosk operators were instructed to return the amount and their ID’s were cancelled.
Singh said that according to higher education minister Jitu Patwari’s instructions, the online admission of girl students has been made free.
He said that criminal case would be registered against the kiosk operators if they charge the students or engage in any fraud. In the first phase, nearly 2.89 lakh were registered in graduation and post graduation including 1.52 lakh girls and 1.36 lakh boys.
