BHOPAL: After 22 years of its establishment, Rajiv Gandhi Proudhyogiki Vishwavidyala (RGPV) is all set to get the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Chief minister Kamal Nath accepted NSUI’s demand for the same on the occasion of Sadbhawna Diwas.
NSUI state’s spokesperson, Vivek Tripathi said it was irony that a university which was named after former PM never had his idol. We have been demanding for longtime that Gandhi’s statue should be installed on RGPV campus,” said Tripathi.
He thanked Nath for granting their wish.
However, there are no details yet on when the university is expected to get the statue.
RGPV was established in 1998. There are 5 UTD's, 200 affiliated engineering colleges, 98 pharmacy colleges, 95 MCA colleges and 4 architecture colleges imparting graduate level instructions running under its umbrella.
Tripathi said NSUI has launched tree planation across the state. “During the function also we gave a plant to CM Nath. We will motivate students and college staff to participate in the green drive,” said Tripathi.
He added that NSUI will also work on resuming the students’ election. “In 2018 students’ election were not organized. Few changes are required in the format of the election. Draft will be prepared soon.”
