After a long wait, showers greet Bhopal
In Thursday’s forecast for Bhopal, the weather office predicted a partly cloudy sky and thundershowers.
BHOPAL: The city woke up to a pleasant surprise on Wednesday as showers brought a much-needed relief from the searing heat.
Rains also halted the northward march of mercury, with the day temperature being recorded at 31.6 degree Celsius — six notches below Tuesday’s 37.7 degrees. At 24.4 degree Celsius, the night temperature too saw a dip of two degrees.
Winds blew westwards packing an average speed of 20km/hr.
Weather office in Bhopal pointed towards a formation over the northern parts of the state and southern Uttar Pradesh. Small formations over the state would continue to bring respite at frequent intervals, added the met officials.
Other parts of state also received showers between 8.30am and 5.30pm: Bhopal (4.8mm), Ratlam (9.4mm), Gwalior (4.6mm), Satna (3mm), Dhar (2mm), Ujjain and Guna (1mm) each, while Sagar and Indore only had a trace of rain.
In Thursday’s forecast for Bhopal, the weather office predicted a partly cloudy sky and thundershowers. Day and night temperature would hover around 28 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius respectively, with winds blowing at 22km/hr.
In the forecast for rest of the state, the met department has underlined a possibility of showers at Gwalior, Guna, Datia, Shivpuri, Ashok Nagar, Sheopurkalan, Morena, Bhind, Raisen, Rajgarh, Sehore, Vidisha, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Panna, Damoh, Chhatrpur, Indore, Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Barwani, Burhanpur, Ujjain, Neemuch, Ratlam, Shajapur, Dewas, Agar, Hoshangabad, Betul, Harda, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Katni, Umaria, Anuppur, Shahdol and Dindori.
