Bhopal: 18-year-old raped by man whom she called her ‘chacha’

BHOPAL: An 18-year-old girl student was allegedly raped by her 32-year-old neighbour. The accused took her to a friend’s room and raped her for the first time nine months back. He then repeatedly outraged her modesty, threatening to murder her if she dared to reveal it to anyone.
The survivor mustered courage and narrated her ordeal to her parents on Sunday after they counselled her noticing changes in her behaviour.On Monday, she along with her parents approached police and lodged a rape complaint against the accused.
Acting on her complaint, police registered a rape case and investigations are underway.
Investigating officer SI Chanchal Tiwari said that the survivor is a college student. She alleged that on June 3, 2018, while she was returning from college, the accused, whom she used to call ‘Chacha’, offered her lift.
Instead of dropping her home, the accused took her to his friend’s rented flat in Sindhi Colony on the pretext of discussing some important issue.
Since the survivor trusted him, she went along without much fuss. SI Tiwari said that the accused allegedly outraged her modesty. When she protested, the accused threatened to kill her. He then started blackmailing her and repeatedly raped her till November 30, 2018.
SI Tiwari said the survivor’s parents found that she had stopped interacting with the family of the accused.
Cops have registered a case, but no arrests have been made in the case yet.
