Bhopal: Students see red over flawed result
Students protest on MCU campus in Bhopal on Monday
BHOPAL: Students of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Mass Communication staged a protest against irregularities in evaluation after several students were declared fail and locked the gates of the university.
The results were declared on Saturday. On Sunday, university was closed and on Monday, students instead of attending the classes gathered at the gate of the university and raised slogans against the management and evaluators.
Soon other students too joined the agitation.
A student without quoting his name said, "I was the topper in last semester. They have given me only two marks in a paper this time. This is atrocious. I do not accept such kind of evaluation," said the student.
Ragini Verma a student of B Sc (electronic media) said, "I was given only 2 marks in camera operation. I am a professional photographer. I have never got such poor marks even during schools," said Ragini. She added that the university must take precaution while declaring results as it is the matter of their career.
Another student Ayush Jha said he was also given two marks. "I was the second rank holder of the class in the previous semester. I am shocked and several others students are also in deep shock," said Ayush.
Students alleged that in every class around 6-7 students have been declared fail. "This has never happened in the university's history. Students were suspicious about the evaluation. Giving 2 marks to the students who were toppers in previous semester is enough to gauge the level of evaluation," said another student.

During the protest, confrontation took place between police and students. Students did not want police on the campus.
"It is matter between students and university. There is no role of police. They must go back," said a student while quoting his name.
Another student said their protest was peaceful and presence of police was creating fear among students. Students even locked the gate to stop police officials from entering the campus. After gates were locked students had to jump from the gate to enter the campus.
On the other hand, police said they were there to stop any untoward situation. "We are doing our duty. Students should not be worried as we were there for their help," said a police official of MP Nagar police station. Later, after the assurance from registrar Deependra Baghel students ended their protest.
Students warned university that they will resume their protest if authorities failed to resolve their problems.
