BHOPAL: The Crime Branch on Saturday arrested three persons suspected of lifting two-wheelers in the city. Six two-wheelers, including five scooters and a high-end bike, were recovered from their possession, said police.
ASP (Crime Branch) Rashmi Mishra said that acting on a tip off from an informer, two suspicious youths were nabbed with the high-end bike near Jinsi slaughter house.
They were trying to sell the bike at a throwaway price. Also, the duo could not produce any documents of the bike.
ASP Mishra said that the youths were identified as Rahul Verma, 20, and Saood Khan, 20, both residents of Budhwara in Talaiya. During their interrogation, the duo told cops that they had stolen the bike around one-and-a-half-year back from Nayapura BDA Colony in Lalghati. They also revealed the name of the kingpin of gang 24-year-old Farhan alias Kanta Qureshi, a resident of Budhwara.
Acting on the information, police nabbed Farhan. During his interrogation, it came to fore that Farhan had lifted five more scooters from various locations in the city with the duo. Police recovered four scooters and a bike.
ASP Mishra said that Farhan is a notorious goon and has been arrested for vehicle theft in the past, too. After he was released on bail, then he formed a new gang with Rahul and Saood. Farhan used Saood to mortgage and sell the stolen vehicles. The accused used to lift bikes and park them in busy market areas till they found a customer to sell them off. ASP Mishra said that the accused were being interrogated further to ascertain their involvement in other similar cases.
