Froth & fury in MP over booze barb
Bhopal: The political war of words has gone sort of bottoms up ahead of Lok Sabha polls. A video going around social media shows Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargava saying that those who drink liquor costing Rs 6,000 a bottle don’t know how much that money matters to poor farmers. Congress has hit back by claiming that those who hold “late-night parties” .

Bhargava was speaking at BJP’s Vijay Sankalp rally at Damoh on Sunday, when he made the statement. In response to Congress’s mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheme to give Rs 6,000 a year to all farmers, Bhargava said: “Rs 6,000 may not be of any value for people who spend that much on a bottle of alcohol but it means a lot for the poor farmer who apprehends that his crops might fail.”
State Congress spokesman Narendra Saluja on Monday tweeted, “Leader of Opposition, the entire state knows who parties till 4 in the morning. After late-night partying, who gets up from sleep at 12 noon. Who makes Bednis dance? And from steel glasses, who drinks what standing outside talkies. Should people like this have the right to question others?”
