BHOPAL: Fed up with threats and harassment by recovery agents of a private bank, a 32-year-man committed suicide in Vidisha district on Friday. Family members of the deceased, Rajesh Palia, alleged that he was tricked into taking a home loan by a private bank by mortgaging his house. Half of the loan amount was withdrawn by the agents themselves.
Now, the recovery agents of the bank were harassing him for the last three months asking him to clear dues worth Rs 4.5 lakh.

Rajesh hanged himself around 5.30 am. Neighbours and family members later took his body to the bank and protested by staging a demonstration demanding action against those who were pressurising him for the loan repayments. Relatives told police that his wife also attempted suicide a couple of days ago, but she was rescued.
Palia was survived by his wife and three children. Police have registered a case in this regard.
