Indore: Two arrested for online fraud

INDORE: Cyber police on Saturday busted an online cloth trade racket and arrested two persons.
The accused duped people by showing pictures of sarees and suits and take advance payments without delivering the products. They sent pictures of fashionable clothes on WhatsApp and then ask for orders.
Police had received a complaint from one Piyush Bargadiya who said that he had placed an order for 31 sarees and five suit material.
For this, the accused asked him to deposit Rs 45,000 in an account in Kharagpur. The accused sent him only 17 sarees of bad quality and when he called him for information, he blocked his phone number.
The complainant approached police. During the investigation, police found that accused Biswarup Das was a senior technician in chemistry department at IIT Kharagpur. The second accused Suman Karmakar is employed in an IT giant in Hyderabad and third accused Palomi Das is absconding.
The complainant told police that he had come in contact with the accused on OLX where he saw an advertisement for sarees. He asked for more pictures following which he placed an order of Rs 45,000 on August 22. He received a parcel on September 4 and clothes were of poor quality.
“Based on the complaint, raids were conducted in Kolkata Kharagpur and Telangana and two of the three accused were arrested. They said that they had started a company Lavender in name of Palomi Das and she was responsible for online chatting and marketing of the products,” said SP Jitendra Singh.
Police said that mobile phones used to commit the crime were seized from the accused and Rs 29,897 were freezed in the account of the accused.
