BHOPAL: The
Madhya Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Thursday arrested three persons from
Satna for alleged links with a Pakistan-based gang that runs fraudulent lottery schemes across India. Proceeds from this racket could have been channelled through hawala to terror outfits like LeT, say officers.
ATS chief Sanjeev Shami, SP Pranay Nagwanshi and his team were keeping a watch on this module for the last three months, and moved in on Thursday.
Among those arrested is Balram Singh, who was nabbed in 2017 for alleged links with scamsters in
Pakistan and was out on bail. The other two are Sunil Singh and Subham. Police have seized their phones, which contain conversations with more than 15 Pakistani numbers, and laptops, say sources. Teams have been dispatched to multiple locations, including
Pithampur industrial township, where one of their accounts has been traced.
The trio was nabbed following inputs from UP ATS, which had arrested a suspect, Saurabh Shukla, from Satna a few months back for alleged Pakistan connections, say sources, adding that he, too, was trained by Balram, say sources.
