Madhya Pradesh: Official plays game on phone during public hearing, notice issued

BHOPAL: Playing game on mobile phone during a public hearing proved costly for an official in MP's Shahdol district, with the district collector issuing a show-cause notice and seeking reply from the officer within three days.
The incident took place on Tuesday when public hearing was being held at the collectorate in Shahdol district. During public hearings, the officials of the concerning departments, sub-divisional magistrates along with district collectors are present and complaints of the public are heard by them every Tuesday across all the districts of the state.
Assistant commissioner tribal development RK Shroti was also present during the hearing; while there were lots of applicants, he was allegedly playing game over his mobile phone.

“The matter came to my cognizance and I also saw visuals that the officer was playing game on his phone. It is a serious issue, while public hearing is going on and there are lot of complainants. A show-cause notice has been served to him and reply has been sought within three days,” district collector Shahdol Lalit Dahima told TOI.
He added, “If reply is not found to be satisfactory, appropriate action would be taken as per the norms.”
People come to public hearing for getting their complaints addressed. This should not be done and there should be some discipline, he added.
