Madhya Pradesh: Thousands of migrants continue to pour in Bundelkhand
Migrants stuck up MP-UP border on Sunday
BHOPAL: With thousands of migrants reaching Chattarpur by two special trains, trucks and walking long distance, the bordering district seems to be the worst affected part of the state with thousands of migrants continue to pour in.
Lakhs of poor migrate to bigger cities of India in search of greener pastures every year from Bundelkhand region of MP and UP. After the outbreak of coronavirus, now the reverse migration is taking place.

On Sunday, almost 1000 migrants were stranded at MP-UP border in Chattarpur as the neighbouring Mahoba district of UP shut down the check post for some time. They had marched past Chattarpur after walking long distance from Agra, Jhansi to reach Mahoba.
On Saturday, a similar number of them were stuck at Buxwah tehesil of the district while on way to Chitrakoot. They were walking down from different places of Gujarat. They had cover almost 800 kms and were still about 250 kms away from their destination of Chitrakoot.
A train carrying over 1300 passengers had arrived Chattarpur on Sunday morning from Rewari in Haryana.
The flurry of activities seem to have no end as people continue to pour in Chattarpur either to reach their villages within the district or to cross over to the neighbouring districts of UP, sources in the district administration said. Luckily, with no Covid-19 patient so far, the district continues to be a green zone

The sources said that before the these fresh activities, more than 50,000 have already reached the district in the last week of March from the National Capital Region.
In the morning on Sunday almost 1000 labourers were stranded at Kaimaha barrier on MP-UP border. All of them belonged to Mahoba. The barrier is situated between the districts of Chattarpur and Mahoba.
Early in the morning, as a large number of migrants started reaching the barrier, it was shut down.
"We have developed an understanding with our neighbours", said a spokesperson of the district administration in Chattarpur, "that if the number is more the barrier is closed down as screening of large number of them becomes difficult. They are released one by one.”
Earlier in the morning 1343 labourers arrived from Rewari by train. They were screened and sent to their villages within the district by buses.
Another train is expected on May 12, sources said.
