BHOPAL: A 25-year old youth barged into the house of his neighbours and killed a minor girl and her mother, before running out and jumping into a pond to commit suicide, in Chhindwara town late on Thursday night.
The body of youth was found floating in a nearby pond early on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Surabhi Soni, 45, wife of Rajesh Soni, her 17-year-old daughter and the accused who jumped into a nearby lake after killing the two, said police.

The incident took place at the house of the deceased near Old Power House locality of the town late in the night. Father of deceased girl had gone to attend a religious ceremony along with his son, when the accused entered their house with a sharp edged weapon and killed both the girl and her mother.
The accused had been harassing the girl for the past six months, alleged the father of deceased Rajesh Soni while talking to media persons in Chhindwara. “I had been to the police station two three times and have given a complaint in written too. Police also took Subham to the police station but later released him. Recently one of the friends of the deceased youth, who is a lawyer approached me and told us to do compromise and ensured that Shubham will no longer harass my daughter and then I agreed to it”.

SP Chhindwara, Manoj Rai said, “The accused youth whose body was found in the pond on Friday morning was a neighbour of the deceased. He was identified in the night itself as he was seeing entering the house in a CCTV footage. Prima facie we have come to know that in past the family of youth as well as the family of deceased girl had made complaints against each other. Later both the families reached a compromise and gave in written that they do not want any action against each other”.
“I had ordered a probe and instructed the CSP Chhindwara to find out what type of complaints were made and what action was taken against the complaints made by the girl’s family. If any negligence is found on part of police, appropriate action would be taken against the guilty”.
