Madhya Pradesh’s count shoots to 5,735; 270 new Covid-19 cases

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh’s tally off Covid-19 patients shot up to 5,735 on Wednesday with a whopping 270 people testing positive in 24 hours.
This is another high after the peak of 391 cases on April 16. Nine deaths were also reported, taking the state toll to 267, says the bulletin issued by health directorate. Indore and Ujjain reported two deaths each, and Bhopal, Khandwa, Sagar, Mandasur and Rewa one each.
Chhatarpur reported its first case, making it the 47th district to be affected by Covid-19 virus. New cases were reported from 18 districts. Again, the highest number of cases were reported in Indore – 78 – with Ujjain surprisingly coming second with 58. Bhopal had 42 new cases and it’s death toll is now 40. The other worrying numbers were from Sagar (21), Mandsaur (19), Bhind (13) and Rewa (11).
103 people recovered on Wednesday
More than 87% of total cases -- or a whopping 5,010 -- have been reported from only eight districts: Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain, Burhanpur, Jabalpur, Khandwa, Khargone and Dhar. All these districts have more than 100 cases, with Dhar being the lowest at 107. In the remaining 39 districts, 725 cases have been reported so far. On the brighter side of things, 103 more people recovered from the disease and were discharged from hospital on Wednesday, taking MP’s cure count to 2,733. This is nearly equal to the number of active patients in the state – 2,735, says the state bulletin.
