Man murders wife and daughter, kills self

BBHOPAL: A 48-year-old man committed suicide after allegedly bludgeoning his wife and 18-year-old daughter in their house in Dabra region of Gwalior on Thursday night. The girl would have got married on April 17.
Dabra TI Sudesh Tiwari told TOI that it’s a case of murder-suicide, going by circumstantial evidence on the crime scene. But police aren’t sure of the motive yet.The trio was identified as Brijmohan Goswami, wife Sudha, 40, and daughter Pragati.
“It appears Brijmohan murdered both using an iron rod before hanging himself. He also tried to write something on a wall with nail polish but it is not legible. We are trying to figure it out,” said Tiwari, adding that there was no evidence of struggle on the crime scene. This indicates that they were murdered in sleep, the TI added.
Neighbours called police on Friday morning when no one opened the door despite several attempts. They had last seen his family around 9.30pm on Thursday.
Brijmohan was a TV mechanic and his wife an anganwadi worker. Their daughter was a postgraduate, preparing for her wedding, police said.
Initial investigations suggest Brijmohan had a strained relationship with his wife over his addiction to liquor. Their 13-year-old son lives with his grandparents since 2017.
