Merciless mercury stays over 45 for second day in Bhopal

BHOPAL: Temperature remained over 45 degrees celsius mark in Bhopal for the second consecutive day on Thursday. Heatwave has gripped over 30 Madhya Pradesh districts and there are places where the day temperature continued to hover around 48 degrees celsius.
Respite from the searing heat during the week is unlikely and temperature may rise further. Officials of meteorological department, Bhopal circle said that in the absence of a strong system and moisture incursion, dry weather would dominate in the state.

Respite is not foreseen until monsoon hits Kerala coast and central parts of the country get moisture after that, met officials said, adding there is cycer over north Haryana and trough line passing through the cycer moving through west UP and east MP. It may lead to clouding and convective activity in parts of Sagar, Damoh, Raisen, Anuppur, Neemuch and Balaghat in the state, but would not give respite from heat.
Day temperature in Bhopal on Thursday was recorded at 45.3 degrees celsius - six degrees more than the normal mark while night temperature was recorded at 31.4 degrees celsius — five degrees more than the normal mark. Wind direction in the city was northerly and average wind speed was 20 km per hour. Highest temperature in state was recorded in Hoshangabad and Naogaon at 48 degrees celsius. A day earlier, the maximum and minimum temperatures were respectively recorded at 45.4 degrees and 31.2 degrees celsius.
As part of Friday forecast for Bhopal, the met officials issued a heatwave warning with clear skies and mainly dry weather. Day and night temperature would be respectively at 45 degrees and 30 degrees Celsius while the average wind speed will be 22 kmph. The state forecast includes severe heatwave warning at places including Chhatarpur, Sagar, Damoh, Raisen, Rajgarh, Gwalior, Guna, Sheopurkalan, Bhind, Morena, Datia and Hoshangabad with heatwave warning at Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Shahdol, Umaria, Dindori, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Mandala, Balaghat, Panna, Tikamgarh, Betul, Pachmarhi, Khargone, Khandwa, Shajapur and Agar.
