After around four weeks of scorching heat the temperature finally dipped below the mark of 40 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

BHOPAL: After around four weeks of scorching heat the temperature finally dipped below the mark of 40 degrees Celsius on Thursday. The day temperature in Bhopal on Thursday was at 39.9 degrees Celsius giving some respite but the night remained warm in city and other parts of the state. Day temperature in Bhopal on Thursday was recorded at 39.9 degrees, two degrees more than normal mark, while night temperature in city was recorded at 30.6 degrees, five degrees more than normal mark.
High temperature in night was due to clouding. Wind direction in city was south westerly and average wind speed was 24 kilometres per hour.
Officials of meteorological department, Bhopal circle said day temperature in Bhopal came down 40 degrees mark after 25 days. Before this on May 19 last month, the day temperature was recorded at 39.9 degrees while temperature remained above 40 degrees after that and was hovering around 45 degrees for the past few days.
Met officials said there is trough from Punjab to Gangetic West Bengal passing through north MP. Besides, there is moisture incursion in state. It has developed possibility of thundery development for at least two more days, met officials said adding, if cyclone Yuva would have not changed its course, it would increase moisture incursion in state resulting in more thundery activity.
Highest temperature in state was recorded at 44 degrees in Naogaon and Shivpuri on Thursday. Places that recorded showers between 8.30am to 5.30pm in the day were Damoh 13mm, Jabalpur 10mm, Guna 2mm while Indore and Naogaon recorded trace of rain.
In the forecast for Bhopal on Friday the met officials said there would be partly cloudy sky, possibility of thundery development, dusty winds and light rain during evening hours. Day and night temperature would be respectively at 40 degrees and 29 degrees Celsius while average wind speed will be 24 kmph
In the forecast for state met department underlined possibility of thundery development, dusty winds and light rain for several places, including Rewa, Sidhi, Satna, Singrauli, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Umaria, Chhindwara, Mandla, Seoni, Balaghat, Jabalpur, Raisen, Sehore, Vidisha, Tikamgarh, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Betul, Harda, Hoshangabad, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Ujjain, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Indore, Dhar, Dewas, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Sheopurkalan, Morena and Bhind.
