Mercury stays over 44° in Bhopal for fourth day on Saturday

BHOPAL: Heat wave in the state capital has not relented despite the mercury dipping a few notches on Saturday. For the fourth consecutive day, temperature remained above 44 degrees celsius mark, making it uncomfortable for the residents.
Soon after sunrise hot winds blew right from 8.30 am. The streets in the city remained deserted as people preferred to stay indoors in office or at home.
Juice corners made brisk business as people who had to venture outdoor, tried to keep themselves hydrated.
Officials of meteorological department, Bhopal circle said rise in temperature was due to absence of system. Dry weather will prevail over the state. Convective activity due to local development may lead to thundery development at few places. The day temperature in Bhopal of Saturday was recorded at 44.1degrees, four degrees more than normal mark while night temperature in city was recorded at 29.2 degrees, two degrees more than normal mark. Wind direction in city was south westerly and average wind speed was 20 kilometers per hour.
In the forecast for Bhopal the met officials said there would be clear sky in the day, but evenings could be cloudy. There is also possibility of thundery development. The day and night temperature would be respectively at 44 degrees and 29 degrees Celsius while average wind speed will be 18 kmph.
